description:
Today we live in a highly networked society. But how can we create the right infrastructure to serve a fundamental need of the society, namely, connecting people to the resources they need? How can we effectively utilize and improve the information web to better facilitate tasks like connecting patients to the appropriate health care facility, farmers to the right people in the right agricultural advice centers, disaster victims to the best shelters, actions that every society and its societal agents carry out on a regular basis? We conceive of an enhanced "social network" where the nodes are people, devices and sensors, equipment and facilities and edges are typed connections between node pairs. The network is constantly updated with information produced by humans, sensors and machines. We call this augmented social network a "Social Life Network." We are building a prototype of this system around the theme of healthcare.
