description:
Since the completion of the human genome 10 years ago biomedical research based on large-scale data sets has progressively become more prominent. Indeed, many young scientists today do not want to study a single aspect of a disease or biological system but rather perform an integrative study. It is imperative for UC San Diego, as a leading biomedical research university, to support efforts that build a collaborative environment enabling individuals with diverse expertise in computational and genome-scale sciences to work together to tackle these types of challenging biomedical questions.
