description:
Seasonal influenza epidemics are a major public health concern, causing three to five millions cases of severe illnesses, and about 250,000 to 500,000 deaths worldwide each year. We want to share our experiences using Twitter data for predicting flu outbreak and to compare the results with the CDC data and Google Flu Trends. We analyzed 587 millions tweets collected for 36 weeks from 08/30/2009 to 05/09/2010 with 23 millions active users.
