description:
Multidisciplinary research is needed to address the multifaceted, multi-factorial etiology of disparities leading to higher rates of metastatic cancer and lower survival among individuals from underserved populations. The availability of a low-cost, high-quality treatment for metastatic cancer would be especially beneficial to low-income and other underserved patients since they are at especially high risk for late diagnosis and therefore metastatic cancer and are currently at higher risk of inappropriate treatment. We envision a core of faculty who will work synergistically in area ranging from public health, cancer biology, and drug design.
