Roger Geiger is Distinguished Professor of Education at The Pennsylvania State University, Senior Scientist in the Center for the Study of Higher Education, and former Head of the Higher Education Program (1996-2000; 2003-2007). His two principal fields of study are the history of American higher education and research universities. He is also an editor of The Future of the American Public Research University (2007). Additionally, a study of contemporary research universities and the market forces that have shaped them was published by Stanford University Press in 2004, Knowledge and Money: Research Universities and the Paradox of the Marketplace.
